Hello all,

I have been having symptoms, that I have noticed, for at least 9 months. I am having the hardest time getting a referral to see anyone because my symptoms have been, while consistent, mild. I am here asking if this looks like any of y'all's symptoms. Thank you for taking the time to read this in advance. I appreciate it so much.

My first symptom I noticed was after having Covid and the flu in August of last year. I noticed when I was stretching, my foot would half cramp up. It was pretty harmless.

Then I noticed a twitch in my thigh. I mentioned it to my husband as it happened every single time I tightened the muscle and released it. I decided to double down on electrolytes. A few weeks later after Pilates, I injured that same leg. I had nerve pain shooting down it. I went to the Dr, she x-rayed my hip and said everything was fine. Every time I put pressure on that particular leg, I would have shooting pain come from it and my leg would give way. After a few weeks the pain resolved, yay.

Then in December, I noticed weakness in my lateral thigh. It just felt weird. After that, for 3 weeks, I felt a weird, what I can only describe as a tightening feeling in that thigh. By this time, I had twitches going from the sole of that foot to my thigh and my feet were vibrating every time I laid down. After all of this I was left with a heavy feeling on my lateral thigh and weakness around my knee.

At this time, we had a break insurance so I couldn't go to see any Dr. However, PT didn't change anything in the leg. I also started getting painful goosebumps and muscle twitches that followed them for several weeks in my shin of that same leg. During this time, I noticed that I was extremely jumpy to external stimuli. Especially noises. The stiffness remains on my lateral thigh.

Then, in May, I had a spasm in my left shoulder blade and the next day I woke up and couldn't move my shoulder. For a week it was completely limp. There was no pain. When I was finally able to get in to my primary care, she told me she thought it was a nerve in my shoulder. Gave me an injection and told me to come back. Though, I regained SOME function, and my shoulder isn't limp now, I have persistent twitching and a heavy feeling in my shoulder in addition to that of my left leg. I've also developed an eye twitch on my left eye.

I also have twitching on the right side but nowhere near as intense as that on my left side calves, shoulders, thighs and foot. During this time I have had 2 spasms on each side of my rib cage area that have been debilitating pain. This I attribute to my known cervical disc disease although my primary refuses to order an MRI. Just an X-ray for that and come back in 6-8 weeks and reassess.

I have no drop foot, wrist etc. I have noticed that I am dropping things with my left hand more/I will reach to grab something and miss the distance several times in a row before picking it up.

Also, while walking, my legs feel kind of robotic. I tripped on a rug a few weeks ago and was able to catch myself but my legs were extremely jumpy and twitchy afterwards. I honestly cannot sleep due to the twitching I am experiencing constantly, I am waking up several times a night. I have tried hydration, vitamin D and magnesium. I am exhausted.

Thank you again for reading.

Of ALL you wrote... that is a very key sentence.

Of the doctors you've seen... none seem to be concerned of anything
neurological.

I'm sure others here will chime in soon.

Hope one of your doctors resolves your issues and helps you with
your Health Anxiety soon.

I don't see ALS in all this at all, but if nothing structural is revealed when you return to the PCP, I would ask about a rheumatology referral.

Of course, there can be lingering effects from Covid that show up months later, so that is another possibility.

Thank you. I suppose that was a bit of my sarcasm coming through. It's not that she refuses, she just wants to do a wait and see approach before doing any other tests.

Symptoms appearing and then getting better (like the shoulder) points away from ALS.

Thank you for your replies. I think I am just nervous about the constant twitching in my legs and the vibrations, which I think are smaller twitches as I could see them in the sunlight when I was having that feeling and laying in the sun. I know twitching means nothing after reading the stickies. It just seems like the twitches started in my feet and are working their way up my body. Combined with the exhaustion and weight loss, I am just trying to find ways to stay sane while the Drs run their tests. Appreciate y'all.
