Hello. Thanks to the people who set up and moderate this forum it is most helpful.

I’m currently supporting my Dad through his journey to diagnosis which has been long.
Have read many posts on here which have been very informative and helpful.

Would anyone be able to shed light on why a nerve biospy on a clinically weak forearm would be done as part of the testing for MND?

they are looking for something else, so probably being thorough

Thank you. And repeating an EMG 2 months after the first one would that be standard also?

They have given no indication they are looking for something else as clinical examination is highly suggestive of MND.

Not exactly standard but not unknown though that is a close interval. Clearly the initial emg was not diagnostic or they wouldn’t be repeating it. They must have at least some hope of the nerve biopsy showing something as it is not usually part of the rule out. Good luck

Thank you for your replies.
You seem to receive a-lot more access and information in the US in relation to each step so this forum is most helpful.

For any future visitors to this thread the diagnosis is als and ulnar compression hence the nerve biospy situation.
