Back several months ago I had a few spells of swallowing difficulty ..which improved. I went to neurologist and I failed my exam as I had clonus in my left ankle. All mris negative. Though now for the last few months my right leg has Been giving me problems, it started lie I had a cramp in my calf and gradually turned into now where it is Almost completely spastic 24 hours a day and painful. I also have noticed severe pain in my neck and when I lay down at night my back hurts worse the morning after than when I went to bed. Doc wants me to go to Emory or Vanderbilt but who has the time! I'm scared, any feedback would be great!

I put an earlier post on here a few months back and just saw the feedback. I was blown away by the kind words on here. I had cervical, thoracic and lumbar MRI both w and wo contrast. Tons of bloodwork. Now they want to send me for an emg. Definitely scared as hell, the leg trouble MUCH WORSE

What kind of exam did you fail? Since your swallowing has improved, that would be a pretty good sign that you do not have ALS. Pain in your back & neck also are not signs of ALS. Unless you have weakness, you have nothing to worry about. If your doctor wants you to go to a specialist, why wouldn't you make time? Especially if your are so worried about your health & in pain. Follow your doctors orders & do as he/she says and follow up with your GP.

how old is your mattress? Look for the simple answers first!

Doesn't sound like ALS.
With ALS, any symptoms caused by the disease only get...worse, worse, worse, worse and...worse.
Symptoms never improve. That's why this disease sucks big time.

You may have something else but definitively doesn't sound like ALS.

Good luck.
