Hello everyone. I posted on here before but my thread got deleted for an obvious reason. Anyways I have been dealing with body wide issues over the past 16 months. It started with a weak feeling that ended up making me go to the ER where they did blood work for electrolytes and all. All came back normal and they sent me home. Ever since then I’ve been twitching body wide but it was mostly in my legs. I’ve had a brain MRI done that came back normal. 2 EMGs over a 10 month period, one on my calves and thighs and one on my arms and hands. Both came back normal. But my biggest issue is that the neurologist isn’t highly really recommend so I’m scared he didn’t do the EMG properly. I went to university of Maryland in Baltimore in March and saw a neuromuscular specialist who did strength tests and said I was fine. Fast forward to this past week and my twitching has gotten so bad. It’s in my feet, calves, thighs, arms etc.. My legs shake and feel like their gonna buckle when walking down the steps, I try to do anything physical and my whole body goes weak and I can’t lift my arms up. I’m really scared that I actually have this disease even though the chances of having it at 24 yrs old is pretty rare. I have my 6 month follow up on Friday with the neuromuscular specialist Friday by phone and will try to get a face to face appointment with him. Sorry for the long thread I’m just at a low point in life right now. Thank you all.

Thread deleted for an obvious reason so you come back and try again when you will have been told - twitching means NOTHING and you do not have ALS.
Please stop, only doctors can help you. Asking terminally ill to go through this is totally not appropriate in any way.

Its not just twitching. I’ve dealt with the twitching for over a year now. It’s the weakness that concerns me. I’ve always been strong and never had issues until now. I’ve been out of work since these issues started and I’ve lost the bulkiness on my left hand and am down 13lbs in 5 months without any exercise. I know there’s a lot of people on here who worry about als and almost all of them don’t get diagnosed with it. I’m just so consumed with fear right now

Ryan, it still stands that the only person who can really help you with symptom assessment is your doctor.

Good luck with your appointment later this week. Let s know how it goes after you speak with the specialist. If the anxiety is overwhelming, head on over to the sites I gave you. They are better suited for moral support to help you deal with the ferocious health anxiety you are feeling while you wait the next couple days.

As others have said, there is no reason to think of ALS, especially since a neuromuscular specialist said your strength was fine during the period of continued twitching and EMGs. There are many mild muscle disorders, viruses, etc. that would be far more likely to manifest at your age.

Best,
Laurie

What you describe is feelings, not clinical weakness. I hope you believe this specialist this time.

Had a mri of my back and neck today due to numbness and not having much feeling in my hands or fingers when I lay certain positions. My only concern is that I just got back inside from cutting a whole tree up with a chainsaw and my whole body is shaking. I can barely lift my arms up and my legs are shaking when I walk.

Sounds like a pinched nerve. Go back to your doctor and know that hanging around here is not the place to be. You will not get answers for your non-ALS issues, as this is not a general health forum or a forum for those with health anxiety.

Best of luck to you.
