Okay, well you probably get a lot of people like me, but oh well.

I started getting muscle twitching in my thigh about 2 years and 2 months ago, but it quickly progressed to bodywide twitching.
Sometimes I get episodes of constant twitching in a certain spot, most of the time in the thigh were it all started, but sometimes elsewhere too. It can last anywhere from a few days to a month, usually fades away.
Then I seem to forget about it for a few months, still get some random twitching each day but I don't pay much attention to it.

Right now I'm getting constant twitching just above my right knee, has been like this for about a week. I also get this feeling that's hard to describe, not really weakness but something that makes me want to stretch and massage my muscle all the time, also annoys me a bit while I'm walking, but it doesn't impair me. So of course my anxiety came back, and here I am. It might be because of my strength testing routine. I do a lot of stuff to try to see if I'm weak, haven't found any evidence so far. I can still walk on heel/toes, jump on a leg for a while, get up not using hands, run up stairs and bla bla.
I haven't talked to a neuro, only briefly to a GP (a relative of mine) who didn't think much of it, he didn't conduct any test and said I was too young to worry about this. But I'm prone to getting health related anxiety so I can't help myself.

So, what do you guys think of this? I'm 19yo male by the way.

I really cannot do more than commiserate with you but I wanted to respond. Your twitches (fascics) sound just like mine. It's so annoying, isn't it? And so hard to completely put out of your mind. Mine just started but prior to that I was told I had clonus along with a year of hip pain and almost five weeks of neck pain.

As many have said on here, when we google it, as most internet literate people do, the first few things that pop up are ALS, NMD, MD, etc.

To put your mind at ease, I would suggest requesting a referral to a neurologist, perhaps even an academic one. My doctor was the one who suggested it to me but I would have requested it myself if this were to continue.

You are young, they are probably benign (for both of us), but a medical opinion never hurts anyone (preferably a specialist).

Best of luck and let us know!

Two years of twitching without weakness sure sounds like benign fasciculating syndrome (BFS) to me, especially given the fact that they come and go. That doesn't happen with ALS; once the twitches start they don't stop.

Your age is certainly on your side as well. It is rare to be diagnosed with ALS prior to the age of 25 . . . let alone 20 (even more rare).

The feelings you are getting in your legs could be indicative of restless leg syndrome.

If you have anxiety problems, no words that I can give you or anyone else can give you is going to calm your fears. What you need to do is ask your GP to refer you to a neuro so you can be evaluated. Once he/she does, please believe what you are told and move-on with your life.

Take care.

That's true, I had forgotten about RLS, I just checked the list of symptoms and that seems somewhat similar with what I'm experiencing. Like a tickling feeling, which becomes more obvious when I'm not moving.
As for the twitching, well I don't know. It never stops completely, but the amount I get fluctuate a lot depending on my stress level.
I think the only weak thing I really have is a weak mind that can't control my irrational fears lol

Join the club! We've all been there, done that!

Okay, just one last question.
I've noticed this morning that the place where I'm twitching above the knee seems to have slight muscle contraction, like if the muscle wasn't completely relaxed.
I can tell because if I look at my other leg and contract slightly I can make it look the same. It's not much but there's a difference.

Could this be an effect of the abundant fascics I get in this spot? Or something else..

One last question, you say? We're going to hold you to that.

The fasics might or might not have had anything to do with it. I'm not sure why it matters. I stick by what I said in my earlier post to you.
