Hi all, I twisted my knees about 6 weeks ago and upon inspecting my body realised that I have measured calf wastage in that leg, like the muscle to the inner side of the calf have partially gone and the knee is unsupported. Since then I have developed a constant rumbling type cramp that feels like it's deep within the muscle, and light twitching in the rest of the calf muscle. This rumbling cramp sometimes also goes into the thigh and the other calf, especially if I push myself and exercise.
Strength wise I would say my calf is at 80% strength, knee is fully repaired so I don't think its that.
Can anyone say that there is a low level almost buzzing type of twitching that happens deep in the muscle with more random light twitching in the outer of the muscle.
I have also had regular twitching in my left eye and some sporadic twitching although minor in other muscles. I do feel my legs get heavy and weaker after repetative exercise than they used to.
Also worth note is my balance feels slightly off and my right hand feels a little clumsy, I can still play the piano etc so it's not drastic, more of a perception.
I have a Neuro app next week so we shall see what he says, but I thought I would post here so others can see my symptoms and the outcome with input from others.

Hi there

Please read this link really carefully and slowly as it has a lot of information that will really help you.

Definitely I can assure you that what you report is not even remotely like the onset of ALS.
ALS starts with muscles failing to work but you won't feel any different. Twitching and cramps mean nothing and are not indicating anything at all so far as being terminally ill.

Do let us know what the doctor says, but while waiting you could really help yourself by looking at posture, repetitive work practices, sleep positions, exercise, diet and mindfulness. All of these things can only do you good, regardless of whatever is going on.

thank you Affected, yes I think I am a bit ahead of myself, but the problem could be Neuro related due to back or knee injury maybe so still a good idea to see the Neuro. Yes I'm trying to assess how I have got to this point, more attention to my health in general I think is what I'm aiming for, all whilst not letting the anxiety get to me, which incidentally I think fuelled the worry early on with symptoms in my face etc.

Eye twitching is extremely common and really not a cause for concern. As someone with genetic ALS I was in a study of asymptomatic carriers before I got ALS. They made periodic assessments and asked multiple questions about everything you can think of. Twitching was one and they recorded frequency duration and location diligently - except for the eye twitch. They said oh the study doctor said it isn’t important

I just wanted to come back to say that I had a clear EMG and NCS so it does not look like ALS/MND.

The weakness with no change in feeling really is key as is stated in all of the read before posting! My ALS specialist Neurologist stated that in 14 years he has never seen a presentation of twitching and muscle wastage before significant clinical strength loss.

I still have issues with my knee and calf which need investigation, but I asume this is all on mechanical not neurological level.

My most sincere respect and thanks for your help.
