Muscle atrophy questions

For those of you that have experience with muscle atrophy, I was wondering if you could share some info about it.

At what stage in the illness did you notice it?
Was it symmetrical?
What areas was it first noticed?
Was it before/after weakness?
Was it gradual?

My husbands atrophy was fast. He started with twitches in may . By sept his arms and legs were atrophied. By oct. he couldn't lift his arms. Now the only thing he can do with his arms is feed himself.

muscle atrophy questions

I noticed muscle wasting on my face and upper arms 4 months before I noticed twitching. I now have lower arm wasting. When I mentioned it to my doctor she said don't be silly it is normal aging. I have tongue quivering that is so bad my head shakes and it feels like my eyeballs are shaking. I have not been diagnosed yet. If it is bulbar does your tongue quiver 24/7. I noticed I could not take any statins since they caused severe muscle cramping. All of the antianxiety meds except prn xanax made the shaking worse.
