Hi All,

I have been complaining about neck and throat ache for the last 2 years and have had an endoscopy and an ultrasound on my thyroid both to come back with nothing apart from GERD which i take medication for daily ( omeprazole )

I have had muscle spasms twitches in my body since i got massively worried I had HIV almost 5 years ago and get them still on the od occasion particularly when im worried or scared. Recently I have felt like i've had slight weakness on the odd day in my arms/forearms so I went back to the docs who said we can take another blood test and send you for an MRI of the throat. My blood test came back all normal expect for Creatine Kinase which was slightly raised apparantly. Since I have googled what this could potentially be i have been an absolute wreck, can not concentrate on work hot and cold flashes in my body and my arm dull ache and slight weakness is still there particularly in my left hand however i find when i do stretches or exercise this aching goes away. My doctor has reffered me to a neurologist muscle expert as he can see that I am clearly worried, however he has advised me not to worry at all. As he seems to suspect that symptoms would progress from 1 week to another quite quickly. I have had my heart checked before ie ECG and Echo and that came back fine. I must also mention that when im playing sport at the moment im getting this hot flashes over me from my chest upwards. I just dont know what to do with myself. I also keep testing my arms to look out for any abnormalities and my legs. Please can someone advise.

My grip appears to be fine despite my arm feeling like its weak although I do shake a little bit.

Please can someone respond

Anxiety cause cause lots of physical symptoms, as well as low vitamin d and b12. I have a thyroid disorder and for years my levels were normal, it was not until I went and saw an endocrinologist that I found out I have hashimoto thyroid. By suggestion to you would be to go and see maybe an endocrinologist or a rheumatologist they are both good at checking for anything maybe autoimmune in nature. Also if you want you could also get into see a nueromuscular specialist. I'm not a doctor but these are my opinions, I know how anxiety can get the best of you first hand. Hang In there and good luck!

Ps. : I too have GERD

Also many things can cause elevated ck levels, hashimoto thyroid is one of them

Stop testing yourself - unless of course you're a doctor in which case " physician heal thyself".

Why in the world you jumped to conclusions fretting about a rare fatal disease is beyond me. Seriously, nothing you describe sounds like ALS/MND. I wish I could simply stretch my left hand to stop the aching ... I can't even move it.

Come back after you've consulted neuro. I'm looking forward to good news from you at that point.

You don't know what to do with yourself? Give your head a shake and stay off the internet and for goodness sakes, stop testing yourself!

My grandma and uncle both have thyroid problems but my dad doesn't. I had a thyroid function test about a year ago which came back fine? Could it still be hashimoto thyroid? I just keep getting an intermittent dull ache in my left arm at the moment. Which comes and goes. I'm at the walk in centre as we speak.

That is very good advise Elaine, when I stopped looking things up online and testing myself things for got so much better for me! :)

Thyroid desease does run in families, my mom, sister, grandma, great grandma, all had/ have thyroid issues, worth looking to, it is much more likely then a fatal desease like als.

Bailey girl thanks for taking the time to respond to my worries. My one question is that I did a thyroid function test about a year ago and it came back normal. Can this change? Sorry for such silly questions. I'm 26 going on 50 and guess young and naive .

Your welcome, I always had normal thyroid levels only a couple of times they were mildly elevated. Best things you can do is go and talk to an endocrinologist or a rheumatologist. I can't say 100% sure that is what is going on with you, but there are many many things that can cause your symptoms. As with your levels, for sure they could change In a year, heck levels can change from one day to the next. Good luck to you and hope you get answers, try to relax, I know it's hard , but anxiety will make things a lot worse!

Today the dull aches and slight feeling of weakness in arms have gone. Not sure if speaking to you guys on the forum made me relax a little reducing these symptoms? Still twitching and jolting occasionally.

Today my arms haven't ached or felt weak.. However I have noticed that when I move my thumb in a circular motion. I feel a sensation above it a bit like a very minor pins and needles and can replicate this feeling almost every time. I'm kind of worried about that now considering my CK levels were slightly elevated when I received my blood tests on Monday. My girlfriend seems to think its probably from playing play station or working in IT for 6 years or even playing tennis. Please can someone give me any advice.

My girlfriends mom who is a physio just did a reflex test on my knees elbow and feet something called a babinsky test? And she said it showed no signs of neurological issues as they just moved once and my toes didn't curl
