Is anyone here (living in the US) on Medical Assistance and using a a PCA?
My mom has qualified of MA with a sizable spend-down. And this gets a bit confusing. When she passes away, the government will take from her estate the amount that they paid out during her lifetime. In other words, if MA spends $25,000 on her, then when she passes away, they have dibs on $25,000 from her estate.
What I'm wondering is, if a PCA is paid, say, $10 per hour, does anyone know how much the PCA provider would bill MA?
I can qualify to be one of her PCAs, but ultimately, if MA charges much more than the PCA is actually paid, then it would be stupid for me to act as her PCA because for every $10 I make, MA will be charging us more than that. And we'll have to pay that back after my mom passes away.
