Hi, I feel weird about doing this because I don’t usually turn to forums or thing of that nature. So I basically started twitching in my arms and then noticed it in other places as well. I will say it’s mainly been in my left arm in my elbow. It’s been in my upper back, legs, knee, and foot. But those are happened occasionally. Not experiencing them everyday like I am my elbow. I have a little bit of weakness in that arm but it almost feels like soreness as well. I know it’s probably my anxiety and my doctor put me on anxiety for it. I am mainly worried because I am about to ask my girlfriend to marry me, and I can’t even imagine the thought of getting diagnosed and leaving her alone. So I figured I would ask someone with experience to better ease my mind either way. I appreciate any feedback, and if I upset anyone with this I am truly sorry.

It doesn’t sound worrisome to me and apparently not to your doctor. If you have anxiety please get it under control. You deserve a long happy life and so does your girlfriend. Is it at all possible you are nervous, even if happily so,about proposing and this triggered twitching?

Best wishes on your hopefully forthcoming engagement

It definitely could be I have also had some stuff happen in the past couple months, so it definitely could be just anxiety. I also have been looking things up about ALS and I can say that didn’t help and I have freaked out about it a couple times. I also just got put on some anxiety meds and they could also play a factor maybe?

Yes, anxiety meds have their own downsides and their effects on the nervous system are not always what we want. So they are generally only recommended for people who aren't helped enough by counseling, or when counseling isn't available.

But these days counselors are pretty easily available by phone, text, and video (e-psychiatry.com is one example), so it may be worth connecting with someone to see how much that can help.

A marriage proposal can also be stressful at the same time it's exciting, so maybe celebrate your engagement, then reassess? There's no reason to think of ALS or anything like it.

Thank you guys for your input. Because of the soreness my doctor ordered an ent because they thing it’s like tendinitis. It feels like I’ve been working out and I’m sore. Plus I had a spasm that I felt in my elbow and my thumb.
