Hi there and thank you all in advance for your time.

I’m a 29 year old male with no prior medical issues.

I do have an appointment with a neurologist lined up but I was hoping I could ask for your opinions on what my suggestions would suggest in the meantime due to the crippling anxiety of waiting.

About 5 weeks ago I noticed that I had some difficult swallowing, particularly on one side. Food would often get trapped but it was manageable. But I constantly have to clear my throat.
I noticed fatigue fatigue in both my hands and general day to day tasks just felt that more dificult.

Fast forward to present and my fine motor skills have rapidly declined to the point I am continuously dropping things and my hands just don’t feel like my own.

I have weakness in both arms and can visibly see I’ve lost muscle (to be confirmed by specialist) but I have lost 6kg in weight in such a short time.

This week i have started to get fasiculations over my entire body.

I’m also now getting tongue cramping and noticed a dent in the side of my tongue so assuming atrophy.

Can’t believe how quick this has all progressed. As mentioned above, I know I need to wait for the specialist to confirm what’s going on but would be great if you could advise whether this looks like ALS.

Thank you,

Matt

Hi there,

Would be really grateful for any thoughts on my symptoms and if possible?

The start of my throat issues, now tongue faiscualtions and all over body fasiculations are causing me to panic about bulbar onset.

Apologies if I’m way off but it’s just happening so quickly.

It seems unlikely to say the least. Rapid spread over a few weeks, bilateral symptoms. Not at all ALS like. What does your gp say?

Thank you so much for getting back to me.

To be honest my GP is uncertain and referred me to the Neurologist for a more thorough look.

I have noticed a partially drooping eye lid and so my initial thought was potentially MG. But everywhere I look seems to suggest that the fasiculations aren’t consistent with this and has been cause for cases of misdiagnosis.

Not to suggest MG is the only other option, but I just can’t get my head around this body wide twitching.

I’ve seen from other threads that the fasiculations typically start after failure is my understanding correct?
