Hello everyone,

I'm very concerned about ALS, let me start with a timeline (Gonna be pretty long, sorry.)

I am a 19 year old male, & was a senior in high school until January 2015, when all of this started.
I was sitting in class, & out of nowhere it got hard to breathe, & i got an electricity-like sensation in my head,
I was told it was anxiety & tried to deal with it.
Then after i while i started getting head pressure & was throwing up in the mornings,
which caused me to believe i had a tumor of some sort, i got so scared i started staying with my parents, (changed beds.)
After that I finally gave in & went to the doctor, (on Mar. 16, 2015 which told me I had Sinusitis, Eustachian tube disorder & Allergic Rhintitis.
So i said okay, maybe it's just sinuses, then the weird feelings kept getting worse,
I started noticing along with the weird head feelings I was getting words twisted up in my head, (Example, would I talk fine,
but my inner voice would mix up & distort words, that went away.)
I later went to the ER Mar. 24, 8 days later, they CT scanned my sinuses & said i had a suspected maxillary sinus polyp (Left side.)
That night they perscribed me Amoxicilin for my sinuses & Valium for anxiety, I took my 10 day
Amoxicilin course, (felt the same) as for the Valium i only took it a 3 or 4 times because the unreal feeling i had
just got worse so i stopped. i got scared of meningitis because of the neck pain i've always had & still had tumor fears so after a while
of not getting any better I went back to the ER on April 8th, they asked me a ton of questions &
did a full head CT scan this time, still saw a polyp, but told me my brain was normal.
I told them what i was feeling (at this time it was still the head electricity feeling, with a
strange floating feeling in my legs, difficulty sleeping, (Never have slept well) & neck pain.)
They told me to see an ENT specialist which to this day they still haven't reffered me to & just stay hydrated & wait to
see if it goes away, if not see a neurologist.
At this point i was still scared of what i was feeling, the unreal feeling, the dizziness, heart palpitations,
& tons of other things. I was still sleeping in my parents bed. It's a pretty firm, slow moving waterbed, whereas i used
to sleep on a SleepNumber bed. Along with the infinite fatigue I've always had, I started noticing that my legs & arms were feeling like jelly, &
I felt generally weird while moving. My hands are now shaky when doing small tasks that need finger precision. (Note that my entire life I've lifted weights & rode bicycles
everyday most of the time until this started, I currently don't do much exercise at all.)
I'm 5'9 & as for my weight, I've been underweight and/or super light my entire life, currently in just one day my weight can shift from 135 down to 120
& back up. This past two weeks, I've noticed muscle twitching all over my body (Mostly legs, ankles, stomach, glutes, it does happen in my upper body but its more
rare in my arms neck & face.) then very shortly after the twitching started I noticed a clicking when I look down & swallow, when drinking liquds &
eating most food it's fine, but sometimes food will scrape on the right side of my throat.
Back to hands, I noticed on the top of my hand, when i flex it there is some strange indentions between the middle of my hand & my thumb,

I have pain on the top of my hand & the backs of my legs, & tons of back & neck pain. I also feel a pulsing in my head & spine.
I'm now pretty clumsy & discoordinated, a shake a lot when I walk, but I don't think anyone else can see it
& if something touches my knee while walking my leg jumps pretty hard.
I can still squat down & jump high, & if i force it I can manage to get a decent grip going, but unless I put in major effort
I'm shaky & weak at rest & i get cold easy. I have no famaily history of practically anything.

Also, in blood results it showed slightly low potassium, slightly high blood glucose, & slightly high protein.

I'm really worried about ALS, any insight would be greatly appreciated, as this is destroying my life. I'm having a hard time believing sinuses & anxiety can do this.

Here is the offical list from the hospital visits:

Conditions:
Eustachian tube disorder
Maxillary sinus polyp
Fatigue
Dizziness
Vision blurred
Anxiety
Anxiety state, unspecified
Depression
Headache
Hyperglycemia
Sinusitis
Muscle spasms of head or neck
Allergic rhinitis
Vomiting
Hypokalemia

How on earth did you you connect any of these myriad symptoms to ALS?
Not a one of them are found in the sticky you should have read.

Please read the sticky note at the top of this forum titled "New Members: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING!"

Most of your questions will be answered there. If they're not answered, then ask here.

:^)

You don''t have ALS. Not even close. Read the stickies. You're WAY too young to be worrying about a terminal illness. And yes, it can all be anxiety.

See the shrink. I'm serious. A full-fledged psychiatrist is an MD, and can determine if this is physical or mental.

So you don't think the muscle loss in my right hand & right breast is related to ALS? I noticed it a few weeks ago, it's kinda hard to type on that side & it seems like it gets worse day to day. Right shoulder blade hurts too.

In ALS, muscle loss occurs after the muscle has been limp and unused for some weeks or months. You would definitely notice paralysis prior to seeing any atrophy.

I can't diagnose you because I'm not a doctor, but I know ALS fairly well and your symptoms point toward something else.

Go see the neurologist or the psychiatrist. You need some help.

gooseberry, do you think this is ALS related? Kinda scares me the way you said that.

Architect, I'm pretty sure Gooseberry meant see a neurologist to be reassured that you DO NOT HAVE ALS or a psychiatrist because you need help getting your head on straight.

Ditto what Greg said. I'm also pretty sure Gooseberry meant to see a neurologist simply so you can be reassured that you do not have ALS.

But personally, I think a psychiatrist would be a better pick. Seriously.
