Hello All,
Firstly, just wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation to the board and helpful members here.
I've been under observation for a few years by an MND specialist due to a possible BFS diagnosis, based on two slightly abnormal EMG/reflex studies. This has directionally been going on for about 4 years now.
Typically (for the last few years), I experience widespread fasciculations followed by bouts of perceived weakness in various limbs. To date, I haven't had clinical weakness observed. However, over the past month - the fasciculations have become localized, seemingly for the first time ever. My left shoulder in particular is twitching non-stop day and night, for at least 4 weeks now, to the point where it's causing me issues with sleep.
Therefore, I was wondering if this is cause for concern? Does localized twitching indicate something different than widespread? Can benign fasiculations stay in one area?
What's odd for me, is that I think I may have injured the same shoulder around the time this started. However, I've had injuries since I started seeing my specialist, and it has never resulted in an episode like this.
Anyways, I appreciate anyone's thoughts or guidance around this. Right now, I'm on yearly follow up with the specialty clinic, but I'm scared and wondering if I should try and be seen sooner.
Thank You,
