I am going on several trips this summer and although I am still 'walking' I need a wheelchair for long stretches.

I have consulted the ALSA and MDA loan closets and they don't have a portable lightweight wheelchair for a loan.

I found a few options online that were reasonably priced. Like $150 for an Invacare Lightweight or $200 for Nova comet 330.

Does anyone have a recommendation or advice to offer?

Hi Jim

Too bad you don't live closer we have one motorized light weight chair. ALS Assoc. was suppose to pick it up a year ago still haven't. If you have Medicare go for the best, get fitted for a chair because they only pay for one. It takes months too. Not much help but I'll check some other options. My Best to you, Bebe

The kind of wheelchair I think would work best is like this one...

I'm really looking for advice on whether other people have had success with this style wheelchair. I don't want to haul around a heavy wheelchair or scooter. This wheelchair is only 19 pounds. I think my six year old could carry it. (He's big for his age.)

I plan to use at airport, while on the street in Rome, museums etc.

Jim,
You can get one similar to that on Ebay for less than $100 including shipping.
Good luck, Rich
