Hi all,

I would not waste anyone's time on here if I wasn't seriously concerned. I would like to know if any PALS here had such a rapid progression:

From late july 2017 until now (oct 2017) I developed a drop foot and subsequent calf/foot atrophy, but my twitching didn't start until the muscles were almost gone. (is this normal?). During this time, it's almost as if it's jumped to the right leg in the last month, and I've been bombarded with horrendous cramping, twitches and atrophy. I can barely walk, very slow and labored. It also just recently started to affect my right pinky/ring finger with hand atrophy as well.

I'm looking to make an appointment with a neuromuscular specialist because my previous neurologist performed an NCV/EMG in august, which apparently only showed low amplitude motor responses on the NCV and normal EMG. Was this performed too early? He also only performed only the left/right leg and right hand. I've also had tons of blood work, lumbar puncture etc to rule out infection, cancer, viruses, and everything was clear.

Just looking for some support and guidance, because I'm a 28-year-old male and scared shitless.

Thank you for listening and hope you all have a most enjoyable fall season.

Cheers,
Sam

Hi Sam, a clean EMG says no ALS. EMGs will pick up neurological abnormalities well before symptoms develop. Please read the stickies at the top of the "do I have als" forum. That is our official position. A clean EMG is something I've never had.
