I don't want to be condescending, just realistic, if you took a online test that said the world was going to end tomorrow or that you were going to be a millionaire would you believe it ? You are making yourself sick with the online quiz, and symptom checkers. Only a dr can make a diagnosis.

You need to take a deep breath and relax. You are panicking over something that is out of your control regardless of the out come. You have already had good results on tests and you are seeking a second opinion. We are not saying there is nothing wrong with you just that it is something other than als. Let the drs do their job, be patient even though it is hard. We have all been there. This worrying is doing nothing to help you, it will only make things worse and it is time wasted that you can't get back. I wish you strength and peace.

Did I mention I'm 23 years old and this is all happening ...

Vickim thankyou for your response it's just extremely hard having all year new things going on and no answers that's all.

It's very hard just waiting and that's why I took the online quiz and it said it thinks I have it

Seriously, trust in doctors, not in on line quizzes. You need to step back from the Internet for awhile.

At the end of the day, if you do have it, you will cope. We all do, in one fashion or another. Truth be told, I had symptoms for some 16 months before seeing a doctor. That means, I enjoyed the extra time thinking I had arthritis. My ignorance was bliss!

Worrying will get you nowhere, changes nothing, renders you an emotional wreck and robs you from doing something fun.

Hello . I have a question sorry everyone, last night I experienced a awful pain on the left side of my throat when I swallowed and breathed out , today it is spasming and the rift side hurts when swallowing, also occasionally when I speck I have to clear my throat to keep talking, I also have a dry cough. Does this sound like als to anyone? Sorry to be pesty .

Have you been to your doctor yet? She/he should answer your questions. I have no unusual pains, tingling, waking up breathless. But I do have ALS. Your symptoms don't sound anything like ALS. Get checked out by your doctor.

Not yet next Wednesday , it's just really hard I get these shooting pains everywhere, and spasms , and now pain in my throat and spasms there and chest pain when swallowing and not knowing the cause. But your right I need to just relax and wait for the doctor because I shouldn't be complaining to you guys, you are warriors and are so strong , and I am so very sorry for your diagnosis. And also thankyou so much for bearing with me through this as well. You all are so caring and thoughtful. Thanks again.

Do let us know what the doctor says. Good luck to you!

Thankyou, every day is struggle waiting especially today when I realized my foot is significantly bigger on the one left then then the right, and the smaller one when I walk on my heels turns out ward/ to the side .

Hi, my name is Juan.. from Panamá and these past 3 weeks were really stressfull for me...

Began feeling twitches in right calf and tightness, buzzing in both feet, burning sensation... weakness (can't walk normally as i used to, and feel better while at rest) also weakness in arms (forearms) and mild pain... also slurred speech sometimes... ( i believe that to be anxiety)

I have read the stickies and this seems to be not ALS at all... yet i went to a John Hopskins Hospital (the most modern medical facility we have) here in my country and a neuro put me throught various blood test and nerve conduction and EMG...

Comments were: denervation external calf bilaterally... polyphasic motor unit potentials in peroneous longus lateral...

Conclusions were: s1 root irritation bilaterally, nerve entrapment carpal tunnel bilateraly.. neuropathy cubital nerve bilateral

YET i'm really concerned about the bilateral denervation in both legs... and the neuro didn't say to me before these exams.. "Dont worry you don't have ALS", i didn't get comfort in her words...

Next week i'll discuss with her the results.. maybe she ask another bunch of test?

just to end, i really want to say PALS are the most brave people i have met... i which i could be that brave...

I'm really sorry your going through the waiting period, I know just waiting to see the specialist is hard I can't imagine

Hey everyone how are you doing? So I went to the Als specialist yesterday and she did an exam and she said there is no need to do an emg at this time that its def not Als. So that was quite a relief . I still worry because I am having trouble with voice projection talking and then running put of beath.and slurring certain words Wouls she have been able to tell by looking in my mouth and having me do things
With my tongue it's not bulbar?

I think you should listen to the specialist. She is trained and far more knowledgeable than the people here. You should be very happy that it is not als.

If you are concerned about your speech then maybe a speech pathologist would be more help.
