A funny spin on perceiving my disease--

Is anyone else impressed by how much they still *can* do when you look at your muscle atrophy? I look at my hands and they look so shocking to me from atrophy, as if they belong on someone whose been living in a concentration camp. Yet here is am carefully using two middle fingers to type this post. And I can pick up my cup, my cell phone, my book. It looks like I shouldn't be able to use them at all.

That's the way to go!
I was at a support group meeting where a lady told me she can't use her hands anymore while waving them frantically in front of me. I know they don't do much for her and I know she grieves an enormous loss. Yet I sit there and smilingly think "Wow, how pretty you can move them!"
I had already changed my point of perspective to that of my PALS abilities.

Yes, I feel the same way. I can still walk, more or less, despite having toothpicks for lower legs with protruding shin bones.

It’s amazing how much redundancy is built into the human body. I hate this disease yet am fascinated by it at the same time.

Me three. It is definitely fascinating when I detatch myself emotionally.
