I’m 28. Male . I do cardio 4 times a week and weight lifting . I’ve had mild twitching , my neck is stiff abit , I can still make food and walk and run upstairs . I dropped a spoon the other day was abit worried about that . I haven’t fell yet . Worried to see a doctor because last time they said it was vertigo , and now I’m just looking online everywhere j about ALS and I’m scared . My family say it’s health anxiety I even walk infront of my parents and tell them to watch me and they say I walk normally and that this is crazy . My brother says it’s health anxiety , the worst he’s ever seen . I even went to the ER twice last year and did some walking tests and the doctor says I’m fine . I keep on checking if I have drop foot too . Help ?

Hi there-

Please read here: Read Before Posting. If you won't go see a doctor then it's not clear what people on a forum who can't see you can do for you. Your family knows you best, and to be honest, your anxiety does shine through here. If you do want to get to the bottom of your issues, you really should see a doctor first for an exam before searching online and getting worked up over symptoms that do not add up to ALS (read the link, you will see).

Take care.

I have an appointment made . Worrying untill then . I can still walk on my heels and toes and balance on each leg , it’s just when I get a twitch I freak out and I’ve seen people who have als say that’s how it started . This has been non stop worry ever since I went on Google . Hoping for reassurance .

I would seek counseling for health anxiety. You can do IRL, video, text, voice. You can search on health anxiety counseling and your zip code or city. It's like a brushfire, these fears -- you want to nip them in the bud before they take over your life.

The right counselor can help you separate what is your over-amped mind and what, if anything, should be checked physically.

"A twitch" is NOT how ALS starts. You have said nothing that would lead anyone here to think of ALS. And if I had a nickel for every utensil I've dropped, it would be a lot.

Just saw my doctor , he did a physical and said everything. Was normal and no need for a neurologist . I just did blood work

I just did bloodwork and they said everything’s fine … I don’t get it I still get twitches

This would be something to discuss further with your doctor. As lgelb also recommended, finding someone to help you with some tools for managing health anxiety would also not go awry.

We can not really provide you much in the way of further reassurance here. Your doctor does not see any neurological issues and twitching alone is not enough to even think of ALS.

I will be closing this thread and encourage you to stop focusing on ALS. Please do not open another. If you have further questions about your health, your doctor is the person to consult.
