Lost a loved one
I'm going to keep posting this until every PALS who is unfairly confined to their homes because they can't afford a wheelchair accessible van, gets one. Every PALS and their family is ENTITLED to have the remainder of their precious time together as limitless as humanly possible. I'm desperately trying to start a nonprofit program that does just that around the entire country. But I can't do this alone nor do I want to. We who are deeply affected by this horrific disease are profoundly changed. Whether you are the PALS, the husband, the caregiver, the hospice volunteer, the DOCTOR, or like me, the daughter who moved home to take care of her slowly withering away father, you come out a different person. Since he has died I have racked my brain away on how I am OBLIGATED to contribute to the cause, and like a bolt of lighting it came to me. I now feel like it is my duty to at least try to do this. I keep telling myself not to be afraid and ask for help, so here I am. If anyone has anything for me please don't hold back. Whether you have experience with fundraisers, nonprofits, know of a similar program, grant writing ideas, comments, words of encouragement - whatever please contact me by PM.

Count Me In

I just sent you a private email too with my information but I will be glad to do what I can. My dad has ALS, he was diagnosed in February 2007.

I've often thought, what can "I" do. I am so limited financially because my husband and I are helping my parents until my dad can get his disability started. My mom had to quit working also to stay home with him.

Please let me know what I can do to help! I am here for you!

I am so sorry for the loss of your dad....

Michelle Thomas
I like your courage.

We live in the richest country in the world, why can't we take care of the peope really in need.

It just drives me insane, to watch people sit home on welfare and have babies to get more from the government and have someone with ALS, that can't get 1/2 of what they need.
Kate-count me in. I have experience writing grants and if we can identify a source I'll help you apply. Now about your phone number. Please keep in mind we get a lot of scammers and con artists on this site. AL and David and I remove them as soon as possible but I would hate for you to become a target. PM me if you want me to remove your phone and private email. We have over 2000 trusted members and any one of them can reach you via the Private Message System set up on this board. Regards, Cindy
