I went to an Alzheimer's disease/frontotemporal dementia specialist at the UT medical school today (my ALS/PLS specialist referred me). He is a neurologist and a psychiatrist. My wife and I were in the examining room with him for almost three hours.

To make a long story short, in addition to having essential tremor and primary lateral sclerosis, I also have primary progressive aphasia, a type of frontotemparal dementia. I guess my nervous system is shot.

I will eventually become mute. And, after that--I hope it a long time after that--I won't be able to communicate at all. I'm not on any kind of medication for it.

I'm going to participate in a study that tracks these types of diseases at the med school. There will periodic MRIs and examinations. And, I will donate my brain for study when I die.

Wynn,

Wow! That just sucks! I'm hoping the progression slows way down for you and that it will be a long time before the brain donation takes place.
