I believe symptoms of als

My back, feet, legs, neck , arms and face with my mouth becoming so stiff, left side more affected the the right side ,it affects my ability to walk with trying to stand up is a struggle , tingling pins and needles weakness feeling ,heavy body with fatigue,this is not normal ,muscles have disappeared I have lost weight ,everyday it seems to be getting worse , I have made a appointment to see the specialist again was it to early to diagnose als how or how is a official diagnosis made when parts of the body stops functioning.

ALS has been ruled out. You have been diagnosed with a polyneuropathy. And you're right, it's an illness, so you're not "normal," strictly speaking -- of course, no one is. It was not too early to see ALS, which looks very different on exam and EMG. I don't think parts of your body have "stopped functioning" or you couldn't actually stand up and move. But there is no doubt that a neuropathy can make it more difficult, so I would ask the neurologist what the treatment plan is. That could include medication, special shoes or braces, physio, and/or further tests to determine the cause.

I feel like im being paralysed and the wrong diagnosis could of been made hope not , I’m aware als can be difficult to exam in early stages and I’m preying,but I’m am so worried anybody would be ,struggling day by day physically it’s getting worse all the time that’s what’s concerning yo me that I can’t walk properly and yet the body seems to be getting weaker with more stiffer that comes along everyday, and it’s very scary can feel it in the back and neck face and mouth getting worse ,mouth at night more saliva and drolling seems to be appearing at night ,with feet and hands and legs and arms loosing strength ,right hand side has weakness but not to the same extent as left ,5 months ago I felt them all shrink one after onother ankles knees arms elbow wrists and back and I’m aware als symptoms start from one side more weaker to the other side with muscle and that’s what’s happening,weakness.with more stiffness and tingling sensation with back neck and face affected now ,that’s why I’m so worried , I don’t know any other condition that can do that where your muscles just disappear overnight , anyway hope I don’t have als i prey , cause he said to me that the only way to diagnose is with a physical examination ,will let you know what his opinion is again but I only see him 2 weeks ago. Hi can anyone tell me how to test for back shoulder ,neck muscles ,lip face and mouth , feels like Stiffness numbness with tingling sensations with no feeling having swallowing issues now Which is ongoing with further weakness muscles feels extremely weak ,Left side affected more than right hand I have lost every bit of muscle legs feet arms hands feels like I’m going to tip over my own body yet only tested on leg and arm with emg ,can’t walk properly ,how long would a diagnose normally be made everything has been ruled out ,does any part of the body need to stop functioning for a diagnosis I have seen online it could take up to 3 years for some for a diagnosis is this true

Hello- it is time for you to visit with your neurologist. You've been provided a diagnosis and reason for your symptoms. Perhaps you need to join a support group for those with polyneuropathy- we do not provide support for this here.

It might also be a good idea to address your extreme anxiety about ALS. It seems to keep bringing you back to this forum and preventing you from getting the help you need for your already diagnosed condition.
