Hi

my husband has had twitching that has been going on now for around 4 months

it is mainly in his left leg but it changes positions, he has had a nerve conduction study and mri on brain and spine and all came back clear

he has googled a lot and can’t stop twitching, do you think this is ALS? He had no other symptoms but has convinced himself he is seriously ill

If he has only twitching and the doctors who have seen him have found nothing on clinical exam then no I don’t. Read the read before posting important post at the top of this subforum.
the fear of ALS can be crippling and very hard on significant others.
you don’t say how old he is or whether he has a history of health worries

Goggling in itself can increase twitching and anxiety, so I would try to get him to spend time in other things. Since millions of people are/have been seriously ill with Covid, it is easy to get caught up with personal concerns, but that's a terrible waste of the good health that he does have. If his anxiety cannot be controlled with time and common sense, counseling "to get another perspective" may be worthwhile.

Best,
Laurie

A point which may be overlooked in the numerous “Could this be ALS” of
those who make “Twitching” their biggest/first concern.

Are they drinking these new energy drinks or drinking too much coffee?
These are just three of many articles concerning energy drinks and muscle
tremors.

*You may experience the negative effects of energy drinks after your first sip. You may notice your heart rate increase and stress levels rise. Consuming excessive amounts of caffeine can cause anxiety, restlessness, and trouble sleeping. Energy drinks also may cause stomach irritation and muscle twitches.

*Consuming too much caffeine and other stimulants can cause muscles in any part of the body to twitch. Deficiencies of certain nutrients can cause muscle spasms, particularly in the eyelids, calves, and hands.

*Muscle twitching – involuntary muscle twitches are an annoying side effect of caffeine for some people, but there are other causes, so try abstaining from caffeine and or energy drinks if this is a problem for you, and see if the twitching subsides.

AND… VAPING.

Another new trend of these times. Just one below of several.

*Nicotine binding to the receptors can also stimulate muscle movement and may be responsible for the muscle twitching sometimes associated with smoking/vaping.

A circumstance to be considered and questioned. Not all... but maybe many.
