I live in my golden technologies recliner 22 hours a day. I am about 160lbs. Paralyzed from shoulders down. Have been living in my chair for over 2 years almost never leaving it. I rely on a bipap to breathe and don't have the financial/people resources to be out much. I am totally comfortable and take no medication. Your results may vary, but here are some things that I have done to stay comfortable:
- I got the brisa fabric option. It is easy to clean and breathes well
- chair has zero gravity and Trendellenburg position, and I use the full range of motion often
- power headrest option
- I modified the control so I can move my position with my computer with no help. Very important to not stay in a position that hurts, it builds up over time
- I wear flannel pj pants, but found they have to be very loose to avoid pressure points on the butt
-High temperature is not your friend - avoid sweat
-every night before bed, I bend my legs up and put my arms above my head for at least an hour. It makes me feel better for the rest of the night as it is a real challenge to sleep with out moving on the sides
- I have never seen a PT. But regular range of movement is key. Every morning I get hoisted to the bathroom chair and take every opportunity to bend my body in every way. I am amazed at how little time it takes to just keep everything moving and not freezing up
It's taken some mental fortitude, but I am currently comfortable . Hope this helps , Jim
