"So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial
custom of the Jews. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the
garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid."-John 19:40-41
"Merciful God,
This Holy Saturday is the day you laid in the tomb. We worship you and wait with you remembering that you died and were buried. We don't want to rush past this moment, however difficult it may be. You invited us to follow you and so we will. There is a purpose for silence, a deep reverence to offer and to honor your sacrifice.
(Silent prayer)
Lord, You are like the seed buried in the ground taking with you the stain of our sin. We wait in hope for newness of life, but today help us to be still beside the grave and know that you alone are God. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen." (copied)
