Does anyone here know if there's a connection with high lactic acid and MND? My doctor is doing another EMG and at that point selecting a muscle to biopsy. I know there are a lot of different diseases associated to high levels of lactic acid and strenuous exercise can cause it as well. I haven't done anything strenuous and my readings have been high in 2 occasions. Plus I feel worn out and I have a lot of muscle pain including twitches.

Any suggestions of someone that has had the same issues would help as I had to request for a second test for my lactic acid because it was high. My doctor thought it was a false positive.

Some myopathies can be associated with elevated lactic acid. Myopathy can be suggested by EMG and then confirmed by muscle biopsy.

Thanks for replying

I also did read that high levels of lactic acid are found in PALS do too the amount of strain one puts on the muscles. I had emg's done in the past and they found chronic reinervation. But I'm scheduled for another emg on June 6th.

Hi Karen,

I need some advice. So my Neurologist said I definitely dont have ALS and says that my upper neurological symptoms are very mild, brisk reflexes, Hoffman, tightness in legs. Plus my emg showed chronic isolated reinervation in both calves. I'm very fatigued after a day at work, have a hard time with anything less than 8 hours of sleep, my legs shake after a day of standing or walking, my left leg is weaker than my left. I can feel it but no clinical weakness. My knees hurt, feet hurt, thighs hurt as well after doing a lot of walking at work.

My Neurologist has been following me for over 3 years and said that I have no signs of weakness and that I'm still strong. That's why he is staying that I dont meet the criteria of ALS.

Dont get me wrong I dont want ALS but my symptoms all point to some type of MND. I just dont know what else to do from here. Any suggestions?

We do ALS and not 'what if'.

That's between you and your doctor.

You don't have ALS!

Congratulations! And good-bye! :)

Help, you need help...of the psychiatric variety. You have posted and posted and posted and here you are bothering terminally members...AGAIN! You lack the empathy to be able to see that here you are, healthy and with out an MND (of any sort), draining the time of terminally ill members and their caregivers. Shockingly self-absorbed. Shockingly so.

Move on and find a new hobby. The way you're posting incessantly is cruel, and again, self absorbed.

Time to try and play in someone else's sandbox. You're not going to get into this one, much to your disappointment.

I don't want this thread to continue but, if I were you, I'd see a rheumatologist. It could be something like fibromyalgia or arthritis.

Anyway, it sounds like your neurologist does not think it is anything of neurological significance.

Just my opinion.

Hi Help,
Since you addressed me specifically, I’ll tell you I agree with my forum colleagues above. Congratulations on not having ALS.
