No, if anything this suggests a primary nerve problem that could be caused by injury or other reasons. Please follow up with the doctor(s) who ordered the EMG.

Best,
Laurie

ALS is diagnosed based on finding a pattern of weakness in at least three spinal regions (bulbar, arms, legs, thoracic are examples of spinal regions) in combination with hyper or pathological reflexes and characteristic EMG abnormalities. EMG findings show evidence of widespread acute and chronic denervation and reinnervation. Insertional activity is usually increased in ALS but is just one of many findings on the EMG. Diagnosis also requires ruling out conditions that can mimic ALS and finding evidence of disease progression. An experienced neuromuscular disease specialist is needed to put this all together.

Your EMG does not show the type of findings we see in ALS.

thank you so much for taking your time to look at my emg, i was worried about increased amplitude since i read it was reinnnervation, and i still have weakness that seems to be spreding and muscle twitches
