First off, thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I have been following your forum for a while. I love your insight and I admire the time you take to help out concerned people like me.. Here are my symptoms and questions. Please let me know what you think.

1. Intermittent twitching: There was a good month where I was experiencing twitches everywhere in my body. It has mostly stopped...I only feel it randomly everywhere. I seem to have a "hot spot" in my left forearm and left hand where the twitching is more aggressive. It is not constantly aggressive...it will go on for days every hour, then slow down to maybe just once or twice a day. I experience soreness and tightness before and after twitching episodes.....soreness and tightness goes away when the twitching stops.

2. Things seem harder to do - especially with arms and legs. If I bend down to pick up a pencil, my legs burn as if I had been squatting for 10 minutes! I am a choir teacher - while I conduct my arms will burn as if I have been working out for hours! Pushing a stroller also seems to cause my arms to burn. Gets better with rest but returns when I resume my activity.

3. Stiff /sore fingers that get better with rest. Occasional buzzing sensation in my feet/legs. Pain in my feet when I step out of bed in the morning.

Nothing in my life has changed - just seems to be more difficult.

I have been to the dr and a neurologist who can't seem to find anything. Last emg was on 1/12/15 but this was a few weeks before the twitching started. Went back after the twitching started and the dr didn't see anything wrong with me. I told him I had a concern for ALS ...he said he doesn't think so, but referred me to an ALS/MND specialist. That appointment is a month away. My PCP ran blood work on me and the only thing she found was that I had a Vitamin D defieciency. I have started taking Vitamin D. Aside from that I only take a prenatal vitamin and fenugreek/blessed thistle to help with my breast milk (currently nursing a 7 month old).

Questions.

1) can an EMG be done too early or in the wrong spot. EMG and NCS done in right arm before the twitching started...and i do not twitch in my right arm.

2) When I have read the sticky and other stories on this forum that seem to contradict. When weakness starts do you lose ability abruptly or do you slow down?

3) Do als twitches stop and start...or is it that once they star they only get worse.

4) Are there any important questions or concerns that I should address with the specialist at my next appointment?

5)Does this sound like ALS?

Okay, so fatigue, anxiety, newborn can all add up to muscle twitching and cramping. Muscles twitch with fatigue, stress, electrolyte imbalance, etc. Breastfeeding is going to provide the nutrients for your baby first. If something is left over it will be available for you. Since the neuro told you the emg was fine, I would get some rest and enjoy my new baby. This doesn't sound like als to me.

Agree with the same post as Gooseberry. SEE ABOVE!

shenae,
gooseberry is spot on, and you display no ALS symptoms which is great news.

The sticky is OUR OFFICIAL stand, so if you read that, then you read all kinds of 'conflicting' things here, come back to the sticky.

All the best with your lovely baby, relax and work with your doctors.

Soreness, tightness....not ALS. Twitching that comes and goes....not ALS. Burning sensation....not ALS. Stiffness, buzzing...not ALS. Pain in feet....not ALS. ALS is a progressive disease.....nothing gets better with rest. And an EMG will test dirty before onset of symptoms if it's ALS. Yours was clear in January. You don't have a thing to worry about. Good luck and enjoy that baby!
