I've been suffering muscle wasting along one year since I got COVID last year, in my arms, legs, all my body to be honest, tongue included. I had two EMG but just on my legs, arms, feet and hands, I also got a lot of fatigue. My questions is since I got those clean EMG but just made on my arms, legs, hands and feet where I got a lot of muscle wasting. It could be bulbar als? Or PBP? Is really necessary to make an EMG on bulbar muscles to detect those problems, knowing that I received an EMG on parts of my body which were affected with muscle wasting and weakness also some fasciculation to. I'm referring to my arms, legs, hands and feet. Thanks a lot I would be appreciated with your help.

If you had ALS, your EMG would show multiple abnormalities even in muscles that you do not think are a problem. So two clean EMGs should reassure you as to not having ALS, bulbar or otherwise. Presuming your GP has ruled out other illnesses, Covid can cause widespread issues and I would seek out a post-Covid rehabilitation centre for evaluation if your life is being significantly affected.

Thanks a lot for your answer and what about PBP? Knowing that just arms, legs, hands and feet which are affected with muscle wasting, and weakness were tested? Thank you so much

If you are concerned the testing has not been extensive enough, please discuss with your doctor who can talk about your specific case. These specialists have many years of training and experience to figure out which tests to run and how. To really put your mind at ease, you doctor can explain the choices made in context and they can decide if further testing is needed.
I hope you get some answers, it is much more likely to be something systemic than ALS or PBP. I'm not sure why you are fixating on these which are so rare.

My questions was because I've read this that if you have pbp and it spreads to your limbs denoting weakness and muscle wasting then it appears in the EMG whey the doctor put the needles on your limbs is that true?

Thanks a lot

If it "spread to the limbs," it would no longer be PBP. It would be bulbar-onset ALS.

With two clean EMGs, you don't have either.

How can I know that it spreads, with symptoms like, weakness, and muscle wasting Right? And also fasciculations and some difficult in the movement? Thanks a lot in advance

Yes the muscle wasting you say you have if it were due to mnd/ als would have showed in the emg.

Again, you need to sit down with your doctor and raised these concerns as they can point to the testing done and to a physical exam and explain to you why you are cleared of ALS, and then what things they are seeing and what could be causing it. There are literally hundreds of things that might be causing your problems.
If you had ALS, it would have shown up on the EMG.

Thanks a lot for your answers I won't see my doctor till a month approximately, so Nikki when you say mnd / als you are also referring others forms of Mnd right? Not just ALS, just to be sure I got what you meant to in your last answer. Again thanks a lot for your answers and your support.

If a person has muscle wasting caused by dying/ dead motor neurons yes the emg should show.

You need to stop posting now until you see your doctor next month. Let us know then how that goes.

Ok I understand I just wanted to be sure about the last question I made. Again thanks a lot for your support really
