I am 60M diagnosed in July and fairly new to this forum. I am still under typical brain fade phase associated with early phase post diagnosis but need to decide on my job and health insurance strategy very soon.
Currently, I have taken short term disability from work until end of October which can be extended to total 6 months. I receive full salary as well as health insurance during this period. Post that I have option to go for long term disability which can last for 2+ years with 60% salary. I have been told there will be health insurance available during this phase but I am still getting that confirmed from HR. Post diagnosis, I am also qualified for SSDI/Medicare combo. Not sure what is typical amount for SSDI .. assuming it will be less than long term disability.
Given above scenario, I am not sure what will be the best approach. I am seeking advice from knowledgeable members who may have navigated these situations before and in a good position to guide me.
