It's critical that every ALS patient be made aware of the 50 sites nationwide that are enrolling for the Healey Platform trial. For those who don't know, this is a game changer trial design that accelerates the path to new ALS therapies by testing multiple treatments at once, reducing the cost of research by 30%, decreasing the trial time by 50% and increasing patient participation by 67%.
The first 3 treatment results are expected in the fall and new treatments are added on a rolling basis with a shared placebo group so more people will get the treatment compared to previous ALS trials. Also this trial has open label extension, meaning everyone in the trial can choose if they want to get the treatment even after they finish the trial. The biggest challenge is making everyone aware so we can get more patients enrolled and to stop patients from listening to doctors who give no hope or options.
