Hello everyone - so sorry to be bother. I’m having some concern over recent issues I’ve been experiencing since August.

It started with twitching all over my body - moved to weird sensations in my shoulders and arms. Which prompted an EMG. It was done on my arms and hands and I think it came back mostly clean. I’ve attached results. The summary showed a mild sensory neuropathy in the ulnar nerve in my left arm but everything else was normal.

I was feeling ok but lately both of my hands have gotten sore. Mainly in the thumb between thumb and pointer. On my left hand the interossei dorsal primary muscle seems to be getting smaller. Both hands tingle or go numb upon waking up.

Does the EMG I posted rule out ALS or is there concern with symptoms. I’m a little freaked out.

There is certainly nothing on the emg to raise concern and the emg is what matters. It was 100% normal. The ncs showed a mild issue with the left sensory nerve. aLS is a motor neuron disease not a nerve disease or a sensory one. your sensations of numbness and tingling are also sensory asids soreness

i encourage you to work with your doctor and avoid google. Good luck

Thank you Nikki - I was def encouraged by the EMG - but the hand pain in both hands has me discouraged from time to time. My doctor really never went over the EMG other than - she’s not concerned so I wanted to get some clarification from this knowledgeable crew.

There are times where my hands - especially gripping seems to be weaker but obviously it’s about failing not feeling so I will do my best to get my anxiety in check. Thank you again. Best wishes this holiday season.

We wouldn't really expect you to have hand pain with a clean EMG if this were ALS.
Seems a bit weaker is not failing, so if you remain concerned, go back and talk this through with your doctor.

I would ask your PCP for a referral to an orthopedist who is a hand specialist. That person might want to refer you to a hand therapist if something treatable is seen.
