My thoughts of the greatest inventions for humanity back
in the 20th Century… just a few.

Roll on or stick deodorant :) … then, zip wire ties, duct tape,
bungee cords (guy things) and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
“Sailing with the Captain.”

What's yours... ?

(In November 2009, the NFL banned a covert ad campaign
allegedly put on by Captain Morgan. NFL players striking the
"Captain Morgan" pose after a quarterback sack, first down or
touchdown on camera during a regular season game would
be fined.) I'd bet they were somehow compensated for that. :)

The internet/ home computera navigating ALS without would be much harder and more lonely

Nikki, the internet and this forum gave us five years to live instead of simply giving up. It saved my sanity and enabled me to take the best possible care of Matt. Ironically, my computer wiz husband wasn't able to use eye gaze, but I used the web for him. Please know that YOU and others here are what make the internet useful. Without you and so many others, this technology would be a hunk of metal to take to the dump. I love you, lady. You are amazing.

To Nikki and Nuts… yes the Internet. But… I have a big MAYBE
when it comes to Google (what we respond to endlessly), Also
Facebook… the number of young people and kids that have taken
their lives over Facebook. The number of people who have had
their accounts hacked both that and finances just from Facebook.
TMI

But… I guess anything good also has risk.

Besides the Internet can anyone think of great inventions of the
20th Century? Like programable coffee makers? :)

Thought this might get going... whatever. I'll add another... wireless TV
remotes.

Sadly, I am old enough to remember even when cable TV first
came out down in Florida it was a box with a dial and the new marvel
of 33 channels versus just a few with an antenna. Wow!

Channel surfing... you actually had to get up and turn the cable box dial.

Today I have 300 hundred channels, a remote with 25 buttons on it
and of all the 300... I watch maybe 20 but I have my 50s, 60s 70s
music channels to listen to which I have wired into our stereo
systems. Commercial free 24/7. And in the car too... if our millennials
and younger only knew. :)

The way people listen to music has certainly changed. My parents had a large record collection. I had cds which I disposed of when I moved.

and books… not everyone likes ebooks ( I do) but they are life changing for students and as professional references. When I was in college some of the books were massively heavy ( especially science and in my particular field). I always had to plan what I would study during breaks during the day or need for reference Now my niece has all ebooks texts on her laptop. She takes her laptop and a backup power pack. And there are professional references online that are better than increasingly dated texts

💉 Immunizations; Sulfa; Penicillin; Antibiotics; 💊 Artificial Limbs 💪🏻🦵🏻; Glass Eyes 👀; Hearing Enhancers🦻🏻;
Facial Reconstruction👨🏻; Transplants; Exoskeleton Braces; Disease treatments and advances; Diagnostic and Service Dogs🐶; etc, etc........

There are so many helpful things I could never list them all. B😊
