Got Tobii Eyegaze today

It is very hard at first. Make sure you practice every day though. Don't wait until it is the only way you have to communicate. ( speaking from family experience but I do know how hard it is because I have tried out eyegaze)

I got my dynavox a week ago. Gotta practice everyday. One thing I noticed is that I get tense making it harder. I have to really concentrate on relaxing. With Medicare paying for it I can't use the internet, it's a new dumb ass rule. So I still have to use my IPad for good porn. Oh well

Max, it's a pretty basic machine, so knowing you, it will drive you nuts!
Advice :
go easy at first, the eyes get tired.
keep a jumpdrive plugged in for space (HD is tiny)
dust the "eyegaze" sensors often.

I thinkk I have over-calibration syndrome.

I put a 1 TB drive on it, but it is still usb 2.0 :-(

I also set up the pc version on one of my 30" monitors, but it is tricky getting the angle and distance right

Even though I haven't used one, nor did Chris, I know that the trick is truly, lots of small sessions. Long ones will be so tiring on your eyes, and will make it less fun and more like something you don't enjoy.

@Patrick, such a good point about becoming tense.

I'm glad you are able to get well used to this before you lose your hand ability with technology completely, it will make a huge difference.

What kind of Tobii do you have? Just curious. It's true, it doesn't work too well when you're tense. This includes when you're in pain. Playing the games might help you get used to it. Also, I find the settings it comes with not ideal. I set mine to a shrinking large blue dot.

So glad y'all are using the new technology. Joe's Dynavox is in the dinning room -still hoping he will use it but knowing he won't. I will have it just in case.

I just found a fun way to practice… On the keyboard screen there is 'speak" button, so now I can write dirty messages to Sandy and and have it say them for me
