Got away...

I don’t post much anymore but others have posted about their trips.
My love, which got postponed for a year, I went to the casino for
3 days. They were very accommodating to my situation. While I’m
there I don’t think about anything back home, doctors appointments
between Ann and I, paying people to do things I once could do.

Some may not care for the topic but I did sign two winning W2’s,
stayed at the casino hotel comp from previous profile. At least my
brain still works, some may disagree. Worried I lost my touch.

Had a good time, ate too much rich food, had to take breaks and go
up to room for a while. Ann did pretty good too… well.

Played hard when I did and brought home what I took. Yea, they got
a lot of it back. That's gambling.

Thanks for the replies. For those interested in this topic. Some may not.
I don’t reply to the “Could this be ALS” sub-forum anymore. When these 23/26
year old's post they are terrified over twitches, aches, pains and a dent, freaking
out with anxiety and some with serious Health Anxiety I’d love to give them a lesson
about odds.

Odds. Playing poker is game of skill and having a solid poker face.
But… luck is the prevailing factor. You’ve got to get the winning cards to win.
In seven card your first two cards are dealt to you face down, your hole cards.
Today, playing against skilled players your hole cards really needs to be a pair
of Tens or higher or an Ace and a King or two high face cards. If you get an
8 and a 2, a 5 and a 9 you can chase it for the other five cards hoping for some
wild chance three of a kind might fall or even wilder 4 of a kind. You can try
and bluff if your chip pile is big enough it’s worth the gamble.

There have been very few repeat (maybe one) winners in the World Series of
Poker. The previous winners just didn’t get the winning cards to go on again
and win again.

Odds. These casinos didn’t build these lavish hotels, fine dining restaurants
and comp rooms… with the odds in your favor. But, you have to have an
understanding that you are there to have fun. If it ain’t fun don’t go. Don’t
go with scared money. Enjoy the atmosphere, make friends, eat well and
catch one of the shows.

Anywhooo… didn’t mean to ramble on. Again… would love to give some
of these really young “Could this be ALS” posters a lesson on odds.

PS. Some times I wonder if those playing the slot machines do better,
I see a lot of pay out attendants going to those machines. Pay out
attendants are there for anyone who has won $1200 dollars or more,

Great point, Al, especially for the 20-somethings. Exceedingly rare for that age group.

I suspect that all of us that have been diagnosed, though—no matter the age—thought at some point in the diagnostic process that the odds were incredibly in our favor that it wasn’t ALS.

In many ways, the very fact that the odds were so much in our favor that it wasn’t ALS often creates delays in the diagnosis itself. Luck, in our case, was not on our side. Kevin

Never once asked why us because there is no answer. We tried to enjoy life, family and friends. I think we succeeded.
