Get Real
As others have had their share of problems with motor homes I’ve had
my share with this place sitting firmly on a foundation.

First, an overhead garage door broke a spring, something once I
could have repaired… had to have garage door company fix it.
A GFI receptacle in the downstairs bathroom went bad, also effected
the upstairs bathroom GFI. Bought a new one. Turned off the breaker
and struggled with my left hand to install the new one. Turned on the
breaker. Rewired it to the instructions. Didn’t work, turned off the
breaker. Per comment in the directions I reversed the two white wires
and the two black ones, turned on the breaker… still didn’t work.
Called an electrician, he went through the same routine… didn’t work.
The new GFI receptacle was bad.

Our basement is a two car garage. The four overhead 4 foot fluorescent
lights wouldn’t come on. Another bad switch (the house is 30 years old),
That… I was able to fix. Now have extra switches for the future.

On our lower acre over two years we have created a huge brush pile.
Over those years we had a guy who comes in with a big grabber claw
on his truck, he has also cut down 11 one hundred feet tall trees
for us that were too close to the house (thinking of hurricanes and or
ice storms). He was great... but my favorite saying now "Nothing
stays the same" Said he'd be here for sure on Monday two weeks
ago. Never showed up, never called. He's gone from 5 stars now
down to just two. I should have checked first.

The septic tank filled up, had to have that emptied. That I couldn’t
do.

Now for the better and surprising. Ann said, “you need to go to the
Casino.” (My get away, I don’t think about anything back home,
doctor appointments, money matters or things that will have to be
done to the house coming up.)

The surprising… the Casino requires masks at all times and smokers
have to go outside to smoke. So I thought there might not be too many
players, the place might be pretty much open.

From the movie Casablanca… “I am shocked, I am shocked Rick
there is gambling going on in here.”

I was shocked… Saturday and Sunday night the place was packed.
Nobody complaining about the masks but some of the smokers
were grumbling. (Gamblers are apparently are a lot smarter than
some of these morons who refuse to wear one.)

Anyway, one part of me and my brain still functions… I did sign
another W2. But, they ended up getting some of it back. They
wanted the money for that comp room. :)

Whatever… I had four days of enjoyment, ate well, stayed in a
nice casino room and didn’t think about a damned thing back home.

Nice to hear Al that even a small diversion can make you forget about this crappy disease and life's tasks if only for awhile. For me, my happy place is my pool where I can move and float to feel normal for awhile.

I think all PALS should get their room comped regardless. Glad you had a good getaway.

Vistra. I put my reply on the "After 5 Forum. This may not be a topic many
folks here are into. I titled it "Casino"... ALS comp would be nice but would it be
fair to the many other folks with other diseases. Ok, on to other topics.
