Hello everyone,
As some of you read i was diagnosed with BFS two weeks ago at the ALS center located at UAMS in Little Rock AR. I saw Stacy A. Rudnicki, she is a very good neurologist and very professional, i would recommend her to anyone who is having problems who lives in the south. She noticed no atrophy and no weakness, so she ordered a immediate EMG, then escorted me across the hospital to the testing center. Dr. Rudnicki preformed the EMG herself and talked me through the whole procedure. She stated that she used the smallest shock possible in the NCS and saw unbelievable results, she even had students come in (Which i told her was no problem, anything that helps people learn) and observe the results. So at the point all i knew was i have super conductive nerves .. lol. She then went on to the EMG part, she tested 4 different areas the muscle between my pointer finger and thumb, the shoulder, thigh, and the calf muscle. Each area she spent about 15 minutes on and then she wiggled the needle around in the muscle which was really painful. After the procedure she told me in the EMG room that i don't have ALS and the test results where remarkable. Dr Rudnucki diagnosed me with BF (Benign fasciculations) she stated that she sees this in young people who are skinny (I'm 22 and weigh 140).

Now on to the bad part of my post :?
Everyone knows the feeling of going in to the doctor and being so nervous! Well i had some questions i wanted to ask and totally forgot to ask them while i was there. I have nonstop toe twitching in my left foot along with cramps, i told Dr. Rudnucki that i had twitching everywhere in my body when she asked but told her my hands and feet also cramp. So i never had a EMG on my foot the area that bothers me the most... i cant believe i forgot to ask her i feel like a complete idiot. So once again i need the opinion from you guys.. Dr. Rudnucki did the testing on my left side which is the same side my toe twitch 24/7 on, the closest she go was my calf muscle in my left leg. Im pretty sure the EMG cannot pick up something all the way down to the foot so i am very worried yet again! So here i am scared that something may have been missed... i thought i finally found relief but my mind has found something else to worry about.

Hi,

I would call her and express your concerns. There is no reason for you to be in turmoil over this. My guess is there is no problem with it. When I was first DX the neuro knew something was up the first 5 minutes and he was just looking at my right hand/arm. He said right away it was a systemic problem not a pinched nerve as other neuros had said. So the rest of the EMG/NCS was just to confirm his suspisions. Don't be embarassed just CALL HER, she will understand you were under duress and forgot to share the information. Take Good Care and congratulations. Peg

God bless you , momkey! Just have faith in God, and he'll take care of you. Good Luck!

Irma

Congrats on the good report, Monkey. Always nice to hear some good news! Cindy

I'd say write down the questions you forgot to ask, call the office and ask to speak to the doc. No point in asking us. We're not doctors and we didn't see the test results. We could give an opinion for what it's worth.
AL.
