Gee.... I remember my first cell phone had a pull up antenna.

Don't forget Al, not only did they have pull up antennas they weighed about 2lbs. I can't believe we carried those around .

The first cell phone I worked on was not readily portable. It was in a lab environment with a very large fixed antenna. I think the phone's guts were mounted in a 19" computer rack.

We did not do a lot of texting on it.
