So no one ever asked me if I had any family members with dementia. ALS, yes, but dementia no. ALS Clinic was yesterday. I had run across an article about frontotemporal dementia and ALS. I asked if there was a link. The neuro was concerned. My grandmother died from FTD a few years ago.

Now he would like to do testing for the c9orf72 mutation.

I have two life insurance policies. One of them is fairly recent because we found out I was maxed at DH's work and we decided on another policy. I was healthy, passed a physical etc. I had seen a doctor for my foot drop which I thought was an old knee injury for a car accident years ago.

If I get the test done and the mutation IS found, is that then a pre-existing condition so that they will resist paying on the policy?

Currently I am PLS with no denervation or LMN signs.

You did not know so I don't think so. My sister had long term care insurance obtained before illness started and even before c9 was discovered. She had answered all questions truthfully. By the time she qualified to use the insurance c9 ALS was confirmed. They paid her benefits
