I would like to begin by offering my sincere apologies to everyone on this forum, especially Sadiemae, Ottawagirl, Cgars, and Wright. I began by posting as Healthy1 and then as Rocks in efforts to get as much of your perspective as possible in order to help alleviate my fear and panic about als. Panic and fear can lead to irrational actions and I apologize for the trouble that I have caused. This has really taken a grip on me and today I took your advice and sought support to help with this tremendous health anxiety that I am experienciing. I met with an intake nurse today and have an appt with a psychiatrist on July 31.
You know my story...3 Gps, 2 neuros, one clean emg following tingling and loss of dexterity in hands. All say that I don't have ALS. The emg was one week ago. It was only on two limbs and no bulbar test.
Since that time, I seem to have noticed atrophy across my whole body (chest, legs, shoulders, neck) and have become hoarse with less tongue mobility. I don't have another appt for months and hoped to gather your perspective from your knowledge and expereinces. I beleive that I see
new things each day. Can anxiety really cause this? Or does ALS move this fast?
Again, I am sorry for all of the trouble. I am working really hard on the anxiety and took your advice about professional help. I also need support in the area of physical symptoms as well and value your perspective while I wait for my next follow up. Each of you have told me that with a clean emg and 2 neuros saying I'm fine, I should try to move on. Your thoughts and perspective and PATIENCE are truly appreciated.
With the greatest of sincerity,
