Dear all symptoms to share if I may please.

3 months of lightheadedness and fatigue. Weightloss of 6 kg in the last 2 months muscle mass all over and with it resultant weakness. Occasional numbness tingling sensation in hands feet and legs. A lump in the throat sensation and awareness of drinking liquids never felt before. Heightened sense of smell and hearing. The symptoms appear to escalate very fast.

Numerous tests more recently brain MRI full spine MRI EMG NCV blood tests all negative. Neuro of 30 years says 99.9 % not ALS and says more tests not required. Further he says I should see a psychiatrist. Awaiting carcinoid tumor tests as there is a family history.

Still despite best efforts to eat as much as I can I can't gain weight. In fact the weight loss continues and with it weakness hand dexterity etc etc. and feel I am literally wasting away with no medical solution nor diagnosis.

Have read a lot of inet based info and struggling to stop thinking about ALS and all that would mean for me and my young family.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated please

Stress is very difficult on your body. If the tests have come back clean and the docs say its not ALS, then you should be looking for a different diagnosis. Your symptoms do not sound like any neuro muscular disease. It sounds more like a virus or something. But I am not a doctor, like everyone else here is not a doctor. Try to stop worrying about this and follow your doctor's advice.

If you still have questions, post on the forum at this link: Do I Have ALS? Is This ALS? - ALS/MND Support Group Forums
There will be many people there that might be able give better insight.

My message went to moderator, so it will be up shortly.

@Siam:

If your EMG came out negative, if you don't have Clinical Weakness (the one determined by your Neurologist at his/her office) and if your physical exam did not present hyperreflexia, spasticity, Babinski sign, etc., you definitely do NOT have MND/ALS.

Just calm down and take it easy and follow your Neuro's advice.
Lastly, try to stay off the Internet as it will only create you more anxiety which in turn can raise your blood pressure and provoke insomnia and who knows what else.

Regards,

Have you tried posting this in the forum: "Do I Have ALS" ?

PLS is a very small sub-set in the NMD family of diseases.
Your neuro may be providing some good advice in regard to therapy.....
