The Christmas season (and Santa) provides us with a gentle reminder to think of others ... secure in the knowledge that others are thinking of us.
Hoping that my fellow PALS and their caregivers get some joy from the season and wishing you all strength and comfort in the New Year.
Dear Santa
Now it's getting close to Christmas and the close of one more year
And I find myself a wond'ring if you think that I'm sincere
I only write at Christmas and not throughout the year
I often ask for favours, somewhat selfishly I fear
Now the wonder of this season, as we feel it drawing near
Is, we're thinking more of others, than at any time of year
All year your elves are toiling, with guidance from yourself
To bring great joy to others, with ne'er a thought of self
The laughter of our children wakes us early Christmas day
Their stockings overflowing with treasures from your sleigh
Our thoughts turn to our loved ones, to friends of yesteryear
Our hearts grow ever bigger with joy and love sincere
Would that we could capture this spirit all year long
And filled with love and kindness, resolve to get along
Yes, kindness rules at Christmas, all pettiness is gone
And try we must, for Santa, to be good the whole year long
Now I know you're extra busy and working overtime
I'm writing just to thank you, make no requests this time
You're thought of very often, though I write but once a year
On second thoughts, in closing ... I'm a little short of beer!
