Hi:
My wife has ALS. SHe had a feeding tube put in about 2 months ago. About 3 weeks ago she had this changed from the traditional tube to the "button-type" known as a "Mic-Key". Since the button was put in she's had quite a bit of leakage around the insertion point...is this normal?
WHen there's leakage she has a lot of pain ---- a lot like diaper rash. So we put on gobs of Aquaphor and a zinc-oxide ointment. That lasts for a while, but the pain always returns.
I really understated the pain part----it is a lot like a diaper rash, but a LOT more painful.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Also, is the leakage normal and does it subside or is it perpetual?
