Does anyone know if you can vent a NG tube? My loved one is getting one?

I don’t understand the question. Vent as in release air? Or have mechanical ventilation along with it? Yes and yes. Is your PALS really getting an ng tube ( nasogastric)? This is usually temporary. PALS usually have gastric tubes ( g tubes) where the tube is through the abdominal wall rather than the nose like an ng tube

I mean release air, like through a syringe. And yes! We are doing nasogastric for now to see how it goes. Will get a g tube if it goes well. @Nikki J

An NG tube is much less comfortable than a gastrostomy tube -- I would not judge by that.

You can certainly release air from a PEG.

A regular tube is easy and no problem to use or maintain. I have had one for about five years.
