Hello everyone; I´ll try to be brief. I read the threads, but I have doubts and fear. Sorry for my english, but my native language is the spanish. I´m from Argentina
My mother died of ALS bulbar on september 2015. I´m fisioteraphist, I can see yours sympthoms, your health decrease, you know...
Two months later, I´m began to feel fasciculations, when my brain understood, became crazy!. Everyday I feel symthoms, fatigue on all my body (legs, upper limb), Throad opression, and more. I do every day tests of all kinds, to "measure" my evolution.
I can not understand if this is a product of my mind and my anxiety, or is ALS.
Fasciculations are everyday, the others symptoms, are sporadic. But lately I feel they are more presents.
I have pannic to see a neuro specialist, on more afraid to make a EMG. I´know that is very important to know the true.
I would like to know your opinions
Best regards. THANKS!

You don't say if you have anyone else in your family with ALS. If you don't you have no more chance of getting it than anyone else.

It's true that your symptoms could be caused by anxiety, but they could also be caused by something very treatable. I know it's a scary for you but the best thing to do is go to your doctor explain the situation and let them check you out thoroughly. It's the only way you are going to be able to sort things out and get peace of mind.

They will also be able to help if it is anxiety causing your symptoms.

Anaxis,

Very sorry for the loss of your mother. The only way to reassure yourself is to see a primary care physician who can tell you if clinical weakness or spasticity is evident. We have no way to know, and you don't, either. But you are now a prisoner of fear. The only way out is to see the physician.

Best,
Laurie

Thank u very mucho for yours answers. I apreciatte them.
Wendy, We had no other cases in my family, my mother has the younger than 4 brother (3 sister, 1 brothet), Neither they nor my cuisings got sick ALS.
Laurie, You´re right, but it´s hard for me...I guess to take courage and schedule one visit to neuro-doctor.
Really grateful! My best wishes!
