Hello
I am awaiting an appointment with a neurologist because I am worried about ALS. My right leg over the past two months seems more tired than my left after doing yoga balance poses, which is unusual. My right toe has been twitching for the past 6 1/2 months, it isn’t persistent but it’s several times a day. It doesn’t seem to be an issue if I stand at my desk while working, but I feel it most when I’m laying in bed or sitting on the couch.
Lately, just within in the past two months the front bend of my right foot has fasciculations. A couple weeks ago I took a 1 mg Xanax because I had myself so worked up and worried that it actually stopped the fasciculations for the most part. Now two weeks later out of the blue yesterday the front bend of my right foot started fasciculations again and it went up the right side of the bottom half of my leg. I took a .25 mg Xanax and that helped alleviate the fasciculation. Today I feel very minor fasciculation on my lower right leg. But not as severe as yesterday.
Could this be ALS? All these issues are on the same side. Does taking Xanax as a muscle relaxant treat ALS fasciculations? Or would Xanax not matter if this was ALS?
I forgot to mention that I also find I cannot hold yoga balance poses as long as I used to on my right leg. I can still do the poses but my leg gets tired quicker than my left. Could this be early onset ALS? Or does it literally just happen where one day I just won’t be able to balance on my leg?
One other symptom is when I’m sitting on my desk chair I sometimes sit with my heels lifted and my toes down on the ground. In the past two months when I do this my right leg starts to bounce really fast. As soon as I set my foot down it stops. Thoughts?
