actually, sals turns into fals (?). i wasnt close to my wide family. my father died of a cancer, but short before he died, his hand finger just dropped. nobody paid attention to finger, everybody pointed to cancer. never mind. his mother died at the age of 88, but all his cousins/relatives died by 50. somehow, but not als.
what if they lived longer?
i want to test for a C9orf72 mutation. i have 2 kids. strong reason.
where and how to test it? what if i have mutation C9orf72 and i am sals - do my children have fals? one was born before my diagnose, other was born 4 years ago.
thx

If someone has a genetic mutation their children have a 50 percent chance of inheriting it. A genetic mutation can occur spontaneously during conception so the parent did not have it but then yes a child with a spontaneous mutation would be able to pass it on to any children.

you will have to ask your doctor or clinic how you might get tested. It is usually a blood test ( single tube) but some labs do cheeks swabs. The sample is simple. They will have to know where to send it

can this mutation be visible in children now/immediatelly?

yes but see my reply on the other thread
