I am new to Eyegaze and wanted to hear from some of you experienced users about what system you have and what applications you like.

I received my TobIi I15+ System a few weeks ago and have gotten pretty good at controlling it with my eyes. I can still speak clearly, but no longer can use my hands which is why I'm using I gaze. My speech is starting to weaken though, Esecially in the evening, so I'm trying to get lots of practice now to prepare for the in evitable.

Here are things I'm doing with the Tobii:

Type phrases and have it speak. This was not difficult

Send and receive emails. Also not difficult.

Facebook. This works, but I cannot see photos others post, and I think The interface is kind of clunky. Maybe I just need more practice.

Kindle app. This also works but also find it clunky.

Listen to music and take pictures. Not hard.

Internet searches. This is the area I'm having the most difficulty with. Perhaps I just need more practice,

Text messaging and phone calls. My understanding is the iPhone is not compatible, so I'm considering a new phone that is.

i use a different tablet, but they may all run on grid 2 software.... i think grid 3 software may be available, or soon. most manufacturers may upgrade for free. it may support iphone use.

i use LC Technologies Eyegaze Edge. i have not had any issues with FB, or the photos. FB appears on this tablet the same as it would on a computer. i suspect something could be resolved, so u have no issues with FB.

afternoon,

Azgirl, my husband recently got a Tobii Dynavox I-12+ running Communicator 5 with Sono Key on Windows 10. The ACC specialist who is helping him learn to use it was here yesterday and I showed her your comments. She agreed with most of your assessments but had comments about the last two.

Internet searches: There are several ways to get to web browsers and some of them work better than others; for examaple you can get to a browser directly from Windows, or via Sono Key, or via Communicator 5. I'll find out more next time she's here what works best, because she's working on that with Douglas. So far he's not impressed with web browsing on this machine.

Text messaging: Every text number has an email address associated with it based on the mobile carrie
r, e.g. a cell phone 503-555-1234 with service from T Mobile is [email protected] . Search for
"email to text" to find the domain for specific carriers. My husband doesn't talk so the phone issue
isn't relevant for us.

She's going to look into Facebook issues to see if there's another way to access it that will show p
hotographs.

The loaner Tobii we had from ALSA had a chess program that Douglas liked, but it isn't available on new models; bummer.
