Hi guys I'm new to this website.... So about two months ago I developed shallow breathing, I thought nothing of it as I do have generalized anxiety disorder... However, a month later I noticed I had a VERY noticeable twitch in my right thigh it has since spread throughout my entire body. However, the severity has gone down, they're still going on just not as bad. Please note I'm only 16....Yes I understand how it might seem like I'm just paranoid but it truly does scare me. I've been trying to get am appointment to see a neurologist but it's hard to find one that doesn't have a 2 month waiting period so we are looking for other neurologists. As far as I've seen there has been little/no muscle weakness and if there is it may just be precieved weakness. However, I recently noticed that when I walk my right foot feels like on just walking on the front and heel (I don't mean I feel numb). Anyway I'm just VERY scared and if it seems obvious it's not anything serious please don't be rude pointing it out, I mainly need reassurance/support until I can get into see a specialist. Have a nice day!

John, I can't comply with your request to give reassurance until you see a specialist. I support people with ALS. You don't have it. You described anxiety perfectly.

You should discuss this with your family doctor. Choosing your own specialist is really jumping the gun. Here's an analogy: Imagine a new student who comes from a foreign country and doesn't speak English well. He sees that he's having problems with his math homework, so he decides to go to an eye doctor for glasses. What?! Makes no sense. That student should first approach his teacher who can help him narrow down what the problem is, and then send him to the appropriate specialist.

Start with your family doctor.

It's not outlandish that twitches in your thigh could make your foot feel different. At 16 with GAD and with no clear weakness, it's hard to see the twitches themselves amounting to serious concern. But if you have breathing issues that are new, as Atsugi notes, an internist is the place to start. No one here is going to see ALS in this, but you deserve not to spend your life in fear, so why not start in the right place?

Best,
Laurie

Thank you both for your helpful responses I failed to mention that I have a small dent next to my knee(not sure of it's normal I'm just now noticing it) sometimes my right pinky and the finger right there next to it feels fatigued (not sure how to describe it sorry)

John, two very knowledgeable members have replied to you. As Atsugi (Mike) told you... no one here can help you before you see a doctor. To continue posting your forgotten symptoms and little things you now notice will not change the replies.

Being that you are only 16... you have to address your issues with your parents and let
them decide whether to pursue an appointment with a physician.

One question: do bfs fasics and als fasics look the same?

Yikes! Dude, you need to see a doctor and stop posting here. Your responses to the last 3 people tells me you are not actually accepting answers or hearing what you have been told by knowledgeable members.

Unless you have multiple close family members with an inherited form of ALS,Your age indicates it's not ALS. That is not to say you don't have something else, just nothing the people here can help you with. While waiting 2 months can seem like forever, your appointment will come soon enough. Posting here will do you no good.
