Hello, I am a 22 year old guy who lost his grandmother(63) in 2007 because of ALS. I have 1 aunt (50) and 2 uncles (45-53 age). My aunt and one of my uncles had OCD which required treatment. Lately, I have been having non-visible twitches under the skin of my legs and arms, mainly legs. I have been lifting weights regularly almost 4 years, 1-1.5 hours, 4 days a week. I am actually scarred of fALS and due to my fear, I stopped lifting since I heard that it might decrease the age onset of fALS. I just wanted to ask, Am I worrying for no reason?

Very sorry about your grandmother, but yes, you are worrying for no reason. Lift and do whatever makes you happy and healthy. If twitches bother you, adjusting your diet to adjust your electrolyte balance and hydration may help. If you lift on your own, it can be helpful to have a professional check out your form occasionally.

Best,
Laurie
