Hello PALS, first of all i would like to say i have not been diagnosed with ALS, that being said i need some advice or help. The ALS clinic i go to had a physical therapist that showed me some excersizes to keep my joints from stiffening up and my lower back. Well i can no longer do them because my tailbone, hip, and leg bone stick out so much it hurts to do them..... Now, swimming i love. Not only am i able to maneuver and bend and do pretty much anything in the water i do not have pain because there is no pressure on my bones.... The only thing is i do not have a swimming pool and can only swim outdoors in the summer...... I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, i would like to join a local gym that has a pool but the fee is so much...... Please respond to some ideas because excersize makes me feel so much better pain wise... Thanks, Sammantha
Ps. i went back to my GP and told him that there was no definitive EMG saying i had muscle wasting even though you can see it, especailly on my left side. He took a look at my hip and shoulder and the bone sticks out so much it looks like i have a cyst or tumor. He asked if i had been hit there and i said no, it slowly progressed. He sent me for x-rays which showed normal bone.
